Montreal Biennial • Organised by CIAC (Centre international d'art contemporain de Montréal) which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to presenting visual arts exhibitions and events.It also produces publications and audio-visual documents.
Moscow Biennale • The international interest in the idea of a Moscow Biennale can draw upon the authority of a Russian art tradition in the history of twentieth century art, and in particular the role which the Russian avant-garde has played. And finally, this biennale would become the next step in developing the image of Moscow as one of the world’s major cultural capitals, as well as to satisfy the very different economic, political, and geopolitical interests of Russia.
Nordic Biennial (Ideologia) • As its name suggests Ideologia has as its objective to present artists that deals with questions of a social, political and ideological nature, i.e. an art with a large sense of humanism. Ideologia is a platform for artists which has the courage not to conform their art. It wants to be an alternative to the mainstream academic art world and its formalist esthetics. Ideologia intend to present new emerging artists, as well as artists who already have made their mark in contemporary art. This year Ideologia will show the international character of the art produced in the Nordic countries. But international not in the sense of formal structure as much as in artistic attitude.

SITE Santa Fe Biennial
Skulptur Biennale, Muenster • Four cultural organisations from the districts of the Münsterland (Galerie Münsterland e.V., Kulturforum Rheine, Stadtmuseum Beckum, Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen) are cooperating in a large public space sculpture project. Every two years one segment of the project will be presented in one of the participating districts. This project, the Sculpture Biennial Münsterland, is intended as a permanent joint presentation which will connect latest tendencies in contemporary art to the characteristics of the region, making the Münsterland more attractive for tourists and for people interested in art. The four segments of the project are planned for 1999 in the district of Coesfeld, 2001 in the district of Steinfurt, 2003 in the district of Warendorf, and 2005 in the district of Borken.

Transmediale • Transmediale is the biggest and most significant festival for art and the creative usage of digital media in Germany. Once a year the festival presents new and outstanding projects in the field of digital culture and provides reflexions on the role of digital technologies in contemporary society. It is a forum of communication for artists, media workers and a broad public interested in arts of vital and still increasing international importance.

Triennale India • Lalit Kala Akademi (National Academy of Arts), an apex and autonomous body funded by Ministry of Culture, has been organizing Triennale-India since 1968 in the capital city of India, New Delhi, every 3 years or so. Triennale-India is open to all countries and around 40 countries from around the globe participate in the event bringing a range of contemporary art works by some of the well-known artists from different cultures on a common platform. An exhibition of Indian works, selected by a panel of commissioners from different parts of the country, is also held as a part of the Triennale. It is one of the most important art exhibitions held in the region.
Turin Triennial • It is organised by the Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and the GAM Galleria Civiva d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Torino.

Venice Biennale • The Venice Biennale has for over a century been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Viper • VIPER is one of the major European film, video and new media festivals. It offers a highly-regarded platform for presenting innovative works and projects attracting Swiss and international filmmakers and producers, artists, curators, critics and purveyors of ideas from the media, research and politics. In addition VIPER's International Forum provides an up-to-date podium for presenting and discussing forward-looking positions, models and scenarios - a Think-and-Do-Tank for 21st century media, culture and society.
Werkleitz Biennial • Since 1993, Werkleitz Biennale provides an international forum for media art and is one of the biggest festival of its kind in the New Member States. It is well-known throughout Germany and Europe.

WWVF • The Dutch State Secretary of Culture followed the advise of the Dutch Arts Council not to include the World Wide Video Festival in the Cultural Memorandum 2005 - 2008. Without the financial support of the government they don't have sufficient funding to organise a festival in 2005.
