The 13th edition of the Biennial will be held in Alexandria, Egypt, from 25 October to 4 November 2007.

For the first time the event will be held outside of Europe. From its foundation in 1985 it took place in Barcelona, Thessaloniki, Bologna, Marseille, Valencia, Lisbon, Turin, Rome, Sarajevo, Athens, Naples. Its objective is to strengthen cooperation among ministries, municipalities, institutions and cultural associations of the Mediterranean area to promote young creativity, international exchange and peaceful relations beyond the existing political and geographical borders of the Euro-Mediterranean area.

The Biennale 2007 is organized in seven artistic areas, each of them including several disciplines, under the general theme: “Our Creative Diversity: kairos” (Greek word pronounced keeros, meaning fit time, opportunity, a point in time where change is possible).

The selection is open to all young artists between 18 and 30 years of age (with exception of the “Show area”), from 48 European and Mediterranean countries.
